Photographer and Animal Lover Enjoy Mt. Rainier and NWTrek

November 30 – December 4, 2012

We had a wonderful time at Altimeter Cabin! Mt. Rainier was gorgeous as ever! The cabin is also less than 45 minutes from NWTrek for the animal lovers! The real wood-burning stove was an awesome feature for warming up after long photo hikes.Thank you for stocking the wood and also for accomodating our last minute extension of our stay. We are so glad we stayed longer! The cabin is so comfy and cozy and perfect for us the hot tub was heaven after the winter hiking. We cooked dinner here every night and found all the pots, pans, seasonings, etc, that we needed. Thank you for thinking of so many extras in the kitchen- and the bathroom, too! We would really love to come back and stay here again.

Fee Free Weekend at Mt. Rainier National Park

VETERANS DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND – Fee Free

Mount Rainier National Park Superintendent Randy King announces that entrance fees into Mount Rainier National Park will be waived for all visitors to the park from Saturday, November 10, through Monday, November 12 in honor of U.S. Veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

November 11 was declared Armistice Day in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson to honor the soldiers who fought in World War I. The name was changed to Veterans Day on June 1, 1954 to honor all those who have served.

Entrance fee waivers on the Veterans Day holiday have been observed since 2006 and apply to all public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture.

Facilities open within the park during this holiday include the Longmire Museum (exhibits, information and books sales) the National Park Inn (lodging and meals) and the Longmire General Store (gifts and food items). The Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise will be open on Saturday and Sunday only. This visitor center offers exhibits, visitor information, food service, gift shop and book store.

We’d like to welcome you to visit Mt. Rainier National Park and Altimeter Cabin. We’d also like to share all the latest news from around the area and some of our guest comments. We hope you will find this blog fun and useful!

A comment from the cabin guestbook from a couple from Vail, CO.

What a wonderful overnight get-a-way. After spending the day in the Park, we were really looking forward to spending the evening in the cabin. We had cocktails and practiced our putting, then had a nice relaxing soak in the hot tub. Grilling steaks and shrimp for dinner was next and the atmosphere made for a nice romantic setting. A campfire later and making s’mores and then another soak in the hot tub before bed. I haven’t been this relaxed in ages!!
Thank you- what a special place you have created. We will definitely return and make sure we are here for more than one night.
